Overview

A fine performance and intriguing interpretations of African-American spirituals by the 2000-2001 Brigham Young University Singers under the direction of conductor Ronald Staheli, this album is the third release from the 40-member choir. It includes both well-known and fairly unheard of songs in the genre for a total of 21 tracks. Song credits in the accompanying track list are for the arrangers rather than the actual composers, who are for the most part unknown to music historians. Song credits also indicate the soloists or other additional performers. A very professional sound for a choir made up of students of varying career goals. ~ Dacia A. Blodgett-Williams
