About the Author

Dr. Ben Dishman was awarded a bachelor’s degree in pharmaceutical studies from the University of Oklahoma in 1979 and earned a Doctor of Pharmacy degree (Pharm.D) from the University of Southern California in 1982. He completed a residency at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in 1983 and was Board Certified in the field of Psychiatric Pharmacy (BCPP) the first year such certification was offered in 1997.

Dr. Dishman has specialized in psychiatric pharmacology since 1990. He served as a clinical specialist in psychiatry at the Veteran’s Medical Center in La Jolla California, providing direct patient care, clinical consultation and participation as a member of multiple healthcare teams. He was appointed Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of California, San Diego’s Department of Psychiatry, School of Medicine and has had appointments with multiple pharmacy schools including those of the University of Southern California and the University of California San Francisco.
