En cualquier situación existen una multitud de posibles cursos de acción. La ruta que el I Ching sugiere es la que seguiría el sabio. Es también el curso de acción que se halla en sintonía con las leyes de la Naturaleza, con la inevitable moralidad del Universo. En el texto original y en el simbolismo de las ilustraciones de este libro, el énfasis se coloca a menudo sobre las cambiantes estaciones. No tiene sentido sembrar en invierno una semilla de verano pues no soportará el frío, y por tanto no podrá crecer y florecer. Hay un tiempo bueno para cada cosa. El libre albedrío nos permite depositar en la tierra nuestras «semillas» en la época equivocada del año, pero si nos alejamos demasiado de las leyes naturales nuestra elección estará condenada al fracaso. Cómo actuemos ante el consejo del I Ching dependerá en última instancia de nosotros. La vida es una experiencia total y la realidad surge siempre desde dentro.
In any situation, there are a multitude of possible courses of action. The route that the I Ching suggests is the one that the sage would follow. It is also the course of action that is in tune with the laws of nature, with the inevitable morality of the Universe. In the original text and the symbolism of the illustrations in this book, the emphasis is often placed on the changing seasons. It makes no sense to sow a summer seed in winter because it will not stand the cold, and therefore will not be able to grow and bloom. There is a good time for everything. Free will allows us to deposit our “seeds” on earth at the wrong time of year, but if we move too far from natural laws our choice will be doomed to failure. How we act before the I Ching council will ultimately depend on us. Life is a total experience and reality always arises from within.
