Overview

In una capanna al limitare del bosco, la giovane Rinthy dà alla luce un bambino. Il padre del bimbo e fratello di Rinthy, si libera del neonato abbandonandolo in riva al fiume. Certa che il figlio sia vivo, la donna parte alla sua ricerca per le strade di una terra desolata. Il padre, a sua volta, rincorre la sorella per le stesse strade, mosso da un'uguale certezza di ritrovarla.
Al loro girovagare si intreccia quello di una malvagia «trinità» che sfiora via via le misere esistenze di una serie di personaggi tingendole di sangue. E quando i protagonisti si incontreranno, l'epilogo avrà tratti d'inimmaginabile crudeltà.
Alle imprese scellerate degli uomini fa da contrappunto la leggiadra perfezione della natura, come se a crearla fosse stata una divinità diversa da quella che sovrintende alle cose degli uomini.
