About the Author

Alva Sachs earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in education from the University of Illinois, and holds a Master’s of Education Degree from Northern Illinois University.

After sixteen years of elementary school teaching, what was originally just a thought became reality, and in 2008, Alva published her first children’s book. Circus Fever, On Your Mark, Get Set, Go! and I'm 5 are all award-winning titles for Alva.

She is a Board Member of Reading Is Fundamental of Southern California that helps to support literacy for underserved children in the greater Los Angles, CA area by building home libraries for children. As a member of many other organizations, Alva's commitment to children and reading continues to grow. Encouraging reading and writing for children at a young age helps them to explore their own ideas and imagination.

I ordered this lovely little book to read to my granddaughter who is going to start kindergarten this fall! She loved it:D The idea that the author wrote about using a calendar to X off the days until school starts is very exciting to her. The book is small and just the right size for a small child...she enjoys holding it and "reading" it herself!
I recommend this book to anyone who has a child getting ready to start school!
