Overview

I'M ONLY A CHILD is a message from children of all ages to adults who constantly make decisions for them. Parents don't have to read this story to them, it's intended for the child to read to their parents. If your child cannot read, the parents should read it as though the child were talking to them.

This is a picture book intended to remind everyone that children need to grow up slowly as nature intended a child to grow. It is also a reminder to adults that childhood, like every phase of growing up, has basic stages they must navigate. Don't force your child to be an adult. He or she will get there soon enough.

Children, from birth to teen, need to grow up with guidance from their parents and all adults they come in contact with. They must be allowed to enjoy their childhood. Their minds are hungry for learning and it is the responsibility of all adults to teach them the basics of knowledge, reading, writing, thinking, arithmetic and a basic understanding of their government.

This book is not fiction, but a reminder that children will naturally crawl before they can walk as they prepare for learning the basics of growing up. There is a natural progression to life and the training of a child will set them on a path to a sound development toward an early childhood education. When ready, they will make their own decisions. Some children learn sooner than others so this book is intended for the earliest reader up to 13 years old. You are obliged to respect these little, innocent human beings and listen when they signal to you that, I'M ONLY A CHILD

There is a natural progression to life and the training of a child will set them on a path to a sound development toward an early childhood education. When ready, they will make their own decisions. That should be encouraged. Some children learn sooner than others so this book is intended for the earliest reader up to 13 years old. Children don't know what an adults know and immature minds cannot process adult concepts. Don't force it. You are obliged to respect these little, innocent, human beings and listen when they signal to you that, "I'M ONLY A CHILD".

I'M ONLY A CHILD is a message from children to all parents and adults explaining why they should be allowed to grow up as a child and enjoy their childhood. As an adult you make decisions for them, but left on their own they know how to have fun. Give them that opportunity. Childhood doesn't last long.

Learning is an experience as well as an indoctrination. Remember when you were a child and the things you learned on your own. That was an experience. Remember the things you learned in school? That was indoctrination. This is a reminder that you were allowed to grow up as a child, experience real life situations and learn the basics of an education. So why not give future generations the same opportunity.

About the Author

Uncle Jim, legally known as James Lawrence Wilgus, has multiple degrees in engineering. His wife was a fourth-grade schoolteacher, his daughter is currently an early childhood educator, and his son Jimmy is a composer/songwriter. They were a significant influence entering a new career after being absorbed in engineering for 32 years. The transition was easy since he’s a natural story teller.

With all the challenges of an entrepreneur, he found diversion in writing short stories. He has always been a creative person, still enjoys creating things and finds great pleasure in writing for children. He finds the imagination of young open minds very stimulating.

Uncle Jim considers himself more of a writer than an author, because most of what he writes is for self-satisfaction and not ready for publication. He has written short stories, poems, memoirs and letters. When his daughter read his children’s stories, she convinced him to make them available to other children. Thus began his next career.

In 2011, he published his first book, DO ROCKS HAVE BABIES? It’s a children’s book that teaches the diversity of nature as told by Rocky. His latest book, SPARKLES HELPS SANTA, was released for Christmas 2022. The story is so charming it should be a movie.
In the works, a series of 7 books about the unique animals on the 7 continents. The basic title is HI NEIGHBOR. Other titles waiting for publication or being developed are BELLA the BUSY BEE, SPARKLES HAS AN ADVENTURE, SPARKLES GOES HOME, IT’S THE LITTLE THINGS, MESSAGES IN THE MIRROR, THE CARDINAL, WENDY’S EARRINGS, SCIENCE FOR IMAGINATIVE MINDS, HUG & HEAL, HERE TO THERE, A SHORT FRIEND GOES A LONG WAY. etc.
