About the Author

Empress Poetry is a native of the very beautiful island of Barbados and currently resides in Brooklyn, NY. From a very tender age, Empress Poetry fell in love with words; she loved to read and write, so by the time she reached her teenage years she knew words were going to lead her to her greatest success.She embraced that reality and, with gentle prodding from her secondary school English Language Teacher, Mrs. Cave, she continued on her journey, jotting footnotes along the way. After moving to New York City in her college years, she was introduced to the open mic community and from her first bite of stage performance, she became addicted. She has performed on several stages in NYC, was the founder of the Millennium Poets Society; hosted Millennium Poets at O s Café, Spoken Word Fridays at the Inkwell, and Speak at the Patio Lounge. She is a co-founder of Urban Trilogy, and to date counts her work with Urban Trilogy as her most fulfilling. Through Urban Trilogy she is using her gift to empower young girls in high school. Empress Poetry is a co-host of Three Ingredients, One Foundation; a weekly internet radio talk show which centers on unadulterated fun. Her down-to-earth outspoken personality has made her the mother of the show. Empress, as she is lovingly called, intends to use her God given gift of words to bring messages to the community: messages of Love, Life and Lord, words of encouragement, words to uplift, words to heal, to bless, and to bring about awareness. This book takes you on a journey through the heart of the author while feeling her emotions and understanding her experiences.
