In Search of the Fairy. Book 1. Bulldog and Magic Perfume

Excerpts from the book:
...“Let magic not exist! I still like fairy stories! With them, my life seems brighter...” she thought.
Suddenly the girl’s thoughts were interrupted: right in the middle of the road she saw something... Of course, it was not a fairy or a unicorn! Upon closer inspection, the white, wet lump turned out to be a dog. It was a charming white bulldog with huge sad eyes. A bright green collar was visible on the wet dog’s neck. The bulldog looked so sad and unhappy that Tanya’s heart trembled.
“Poor thing,” the girl said, “you must be lost. You have a collar. But where is your owner?”
Tanya looked around, but didn’t see anyone. The park was empty. Only she and the sad bulldog stood opposite each other on the sidewalk in the rain. The dog whined sadly.
“My parents strictly do not allow me to bring animals home from the street. But you're clearly lost. I will try to return you to your owner. Come with me! At home, I'll check your collar. Surely, your owner’s phone number is written on it! Is not it?”
The bulldog whined pitifully again. Tanya sincerely sympathized with the dog that she was ready to cry.
The dog seemed to understand every word the girl said. She calmly walked next to Tanya, staying as close to her as possible to hide from the cold rain under a wide umbrella.
Soon, the girl and the dog reached the house. Tanya opened the door with her key — her parents were always at work at that time. The girl took off her wet jacket and opened her umbrella to dry it.
Tanya looked at the bulldog, modestly sitting on the rug near the front door. The dog seemed to understand: she shouldn’t walk around the apartment with dirty paws.
“Let’s go to the bathroom! I will wash you with warm water, because you are cold and may get sick.”
The dog understood every word and obediently followed the girl to the bathroom. Soon, the bulldog, thoroughly washed with soap, dried with a hairdryer and wiped with an old towel, was sitting in the kitchen. By the way, during the washing process, Tanya found out that this bulldog was a girl. Having dried off, the dog with great pleasure ate from a ceramic plate the finely chopped pieces of boiled meat that were left over from yesterday's dinner.
“Eat! Enjoy your meal!” Tanya encouraged her ‘pet’. “Now I’ll pour fresh water into your bowl, and then I’ll examine your collar! I will definitely find your owner! I'm sure your owner's phone number is written on the collar!”
When the dog got drunk and full, something unusual happened.
“Thank you, kind girl, for helping me!” the bulldog said to Tanya in a human voice. “I'm actually a fairy, my name is Emerald! But the dark fairy Tenebris stole the magic diamond, which contained my power, and then turned me into a dog! Tenebris hates bulldogs! And so she turned me into this form and left me! I wandered around an unfamiliar city for a long time, got caught in the rain, got wet, cold, hungry and very weak! I couldn’t even speak... But you helped me, kind girl! Let me know your name.”
While the bulldog, the enchanted fairy Emerald, spoke, Tanya’s expression gradually changed. At first her eyes widened in surprise. But it didn't last long, and her expression turned skeptical. When Emerald finished her monologue, Tanya smiled widely and said:
“Hello, fairy Emerald! My name is Tanya! And I would like to welcome the respected hosts of the TV show ‘Shooting a Hidden Camera’. I've heard about this TV show many times. If they are showing me live on TV now, I want to say ‘hello’ to my mom, dad, grandparents, friends from school and teachers! And of course, I want to greet my childhood friend Petya, with whom we see every summer, when I come for the summer holidays to a small but very cozy town, to visit my grandparents!”
The dog looked at Tanya with round, surprised eyes...
