Overview

A 1960s coming-of-age novel of young Americans confronting the challenges of political turbulence magnified by a war of questionable necessity.

See starkly conflicting acceptance or rejection of our government's decision to commit more than 500,000 American forces that ultimately resulted in more than 58,000 deaths in the war years. Youthful privilege and romance visit Manhattan and London as well as the mountain jungles of Vietnam. The grief of war touches all and consumes many.

Meet Laurelyn Judith Jordan, a successful New York fashion model drawn to strong and deadly opposition to the war. Meet Peter Taylor, a combat soldier and lawyer, called to duty for his country and also drawn to Laurelyn Jordan. And meet Kathryn Summers, a young woman committed to Peter Taylor and to devoting her life to the aid of deaf children.

Meet them and know them as well as their joy and their grief.

And remember them...whether you want to or not.
