Overview

Having survived the first six months of his contract as a newly minted Physician Assistant with Bedlam Medical Center, Ben Parker is beginning to understand that health care in this small rural Montana town is about much more than standard medicine. He even has the veterinarian on speed dial. His supervising physician is rarely available which might be the best revelation so far.  The Rod of Asclepius is the symbol for medicine, Asclepius is the god of Healing and the doctor sees himself as the personal representative of the gods. As luck would have it he is not in town when Ben has to deal with patient deaths, blizzard conditions, and the anomalies of culture and religion.  An unusual friendship with a crotchety old man keeps him sharp as he deals with a Norwegian language barrier, hospital affairs and the nefarious world of cannabis.  And throughout all of this is there the possibility of romance? More chaos as can only happen in the middle of nowhere is in store for Ben as he struggles to find any consistency in his days and faces the decision of whether to renew his contract.
