About the Author

Katherine S. Ankerson is Associate Professor in the Department of Architecture at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She is currently the Director at Large for and a corporate member of the Interior Design Educators Council. She has also written articles on the teaching of interior design in the classroom and via the Web. She is also the author of Elements of Interior Lightframe Construction.

This CD-ROM and workbook package provides the information needed to understand and create a set of construction documents. The material describes the accepted order, philosophy, and implications of construction documents in the framework of the accurate representation of design intent. The text explains where designers may find information on existing documents, as well as the steps involved in the creation of new construction documents. Animation and simulation sequences and audio features supplement examples and video clips on the CD-ROM.

The accompanying workbook contains assignments designed to assist in internalizing the information, by applying concepts to actual examples and engaging the user fully in the learning process. Assignments require students to find information, aid in the building of appropriate vocabulary, allow expression in a written and graphic manner, and require students to generate documents from given information.
