This three-disc, 45-track collection is exactly what it says it is, a fine introduction to John Lee Hooker, featuring his classic sides from the 1940s to the 1950s when he was arguably in his prime. Each disc is somewhat themed, although Hooker's raw, boogie blues sound is consistent throughout.
