Morris (U. of Waterloo, Canada) moves from elementary systems theory to advanced multivariable controls, covering stability, basic loopshaping, basic state feedback and estimation, controller parametrization, and generalized plants along the way. A common thread in the book is the trade-off between performance and maintaining stability in the presence of system uncertainty. Morris uses both time domain and frequency domain methods of system description. For ease of description, only linear systems are considered and all explanation are single-input and single-output.
