This book is based on a true story of a young boy in the mid 1950's who loses his father at eight years old and his mother re-marries another man, he couldn't figure out why people would stare at them in public and make snide remarks until one day at school one of the kids in his class starts shouting: " Joey's father is black ! " This was the first time he got to know what discrimination was and what black and white was. This story is how a family with six children over the decades started to self destruct because of racial hatred.
