Gr 11 Up–This British-published set is weakened by weighty theological discussions, overuse of Arabic words, and overly dense prose. The titles are admiring of Islam. Although History and Art provide adequate material, they are dry and often difficult to follow. Beliefs and Practices is the best of the group. However, in all three titles, black sidebars with gray print are difficult to read, poorly reproduced photos and illustrations add little to the text, and, aside from one grainy offering in Beliefs and Practices, there are no maps to help readers with locations. Only the most advanced secondary students will find these books readable or helpful.
