About the Author

S.C. Chin is an author from a small town in North Carolina. They were born to a Cambodian immigrant family in the United States and their writing is significantly influenced by their mother's experiences during the Khmer Rouge and her displays of familial affection. During their childhood, they enjoyed playing video games, reading comics, and watching cartoons. Along with two of their seven siblings, they would create stories about the adventures of their beloved franchises.
Later on, Chin explored their creativity in various fields such as music, architecture, animation, and storytelling. Although they received their Autodesk Revit Certificate in high school, they decided to follow their passion for writing and pursued it in college. This dream would come to a halt due to facing failure in college classes and school expenses. In 2017, they dropped out in the first semester of the second year.
Chin was uncertain how their family would react, so they went to stay with their friend Taiyou Hamasaki. After a month of no contact, Chin's family became worried. Eventually, Chin returned home and was found safe and sound by their mother and youngest sister.
Chin started experimenting with animation and music creation for YouTube, but after two years, they had little success. One day, they stumbled upon an ad for a Google webinar on ad scripting and search engine optimization. Chin felt motivated to learn and earned a certificate from the webinar. They became more interested in the creative writing aspect of ads to improve their sales strategies.
Chin was thrilled to start their first job in copywriting. Although some of the tasks were tedious, they enjoyed researching and writing about the assigned topics. Sadly, they were let go along with other new members of the copywriting team due to a decrease in writing orders during the holiday season of 2021.
After being unemployed for two months, Chin decided to return to storytelling. They wrote their first military sci-fi novel, Isle Lacion, using characters that they and Hamasaki had developed since middle school.
