CHAPTER 1

Jacob woke up early this morning. He knew he was going to be able to play at his new playground. He did not know what to expect, he hoped out of his bed and ran down stairs. He was running so fast down the stairs he skipped steps and started crawling down the stairs. He ran into the kitchen were his mommy was making breakfast. Mama said, "You have to eat your breakfast, I made your favorite pancakes with maple syrup before we go to the playground. The whole time he was eating his pancakes he was thinking about the playground.

When it was finally time to go to the playground, he stood there for a moment with amazement. He looked around the playground with amazement and did not know where to go first. The first thing he seen was two park benches. He tried to sit on the big park bench, but it was still too big for him. Mommy had to help him get up on the bench. Jacob did not stay there long because he saw something more his size.

A park little park bench just his size. He knew he could sit in it without mommies help, all by himself. He did not stay there long; Jacob saw the see saw were he ran to it and sat on the seat. Nothing happened though! So Jacob tried picking it up and turning it but still wondered what it did. His mommy saw that Jacob was having a problem of figuring this out. She put him on the see saw and put her hand underneath and started Jacob teeter tottering.

Jacob looked up to see this huge three level fort. It had everything a little boy could dream of. It had a big slide that started from the first floor and went down to the ground, rock climbing wall that went from the ground to the look-out tower. The Monkey bars were off to the left side with a ladder for him to climb up swing across to the look-out tower then on the right side of the fort were two swings and a teeter-totter and a picnic table and sand box underneath the whole fort. This fort was everything Jacob had hoped for. Jacob did not know what to do first!

He went up the ladder in the back of the fort which took him to the inside of his fort as he found his look-out tower he looked out it to see his whole playground. He could see his See-Saw that he had played on and when he looked at more of his playground he could see Mama and Dada that seemed so far away. He was so happy and started laughing and waving to Mama and Dada that were watching him enjoy his new experience of his first fort.

He finally decided to go down his slide as he looked at his slide he went over and sat down and laughed but was scared. As he saw Dada down on the bottom of the slide smiling up at him and telling him, "It is alright do not be scared Dada is right here, I will be waiting for you down here at the bottom." He let go and started down the slide! As he started sliding down Jacob enjoyed the wind that was blowing on his face all the way down and over the curves.

Jacob ran to the back of the fort and climbed the ladder and down the slide he went over and over again. He was no longer scared to do it by himself. As he got more and more use to the slide he would turn going down and slide on his tummy.

Mama said, "Jacob, come try the rock climbing wall!" As she placed one hand above his head on a rock then put his foot on another rock. She showed him how to climb and pull himself up from one rock to the other to get to the top. It took Jacob a few times to figure out how to climb up but he figured it out and was so happy and proud of himself when he got to the top of the wall. He did this over and over again realizing he could do this without Mama's help any more He was doing it all by himself. After this was all figured out by Jacob he was ready to move on to something new and exciting.

Jacob climbed up the back of his fort only to find a fire pole. He wrapped his arms and legs around this pole like a champ, he slide down the pole were he noticed a sand box on the bottom. Jacob noticed there were shovels and buckets, so he grabbed a shovel and began to shovel sand into the buckets. As he filled the buckets he would dump them over and he noticed they made big round shapes. Jacob really enjoyed digging; he would fill the buckets up just to dump them out, to fill them up again and again. But before he left his sandbox Jacob laid down on his back to make a sand angle in the sand.

Jacob then went to the monkey bars to the left of the fort and tried to reach to climb across and swing like a monkey but his little arms were too short.

Dada noticed that Jacob really wanted to do this! At that time Jacob felt Dada grab him by the tummy to lift him up there for him to climb across to his fort. Dada explained to Jacob you will grow and be able to do this by yourself one day. Jacob thought to himself at that point that yes one day he would be that big to cross those monkey bars by him. Then Jacob had to take a break were he sat in his Gamecock chair made just for him.

After resting for a bit Jacob decided to go to his activity table to color. He found 2 pictures he wanted to color! The first was a picture of a dinosaur; he chose many different colors to color this dinosaur. The second picture was a heart this he colored red, green yellow and black. He gave both pictures to Mama. His Mama saved them to put on the refrigerator and told Jacob he did a great job, how beautiful they were and how proud she was of him. Mama asked Jacob, "Are you hungry do you want your favorite snack I packed for you?" Jacob answered, "Yes Ma'am!" Then Jacob sat at his table and waited for his favorite snack of peanut butter crackers with Apple juice that Mama had prepared for him. She knew with all the playing and excitement Jacob would be hungry!
