Overview

Desperadoes Steel Orchestra is one of the leaders of the steel band style, and it is led (at least at the time of this album) by the mildly jazzy Clive Bradley (one of the Big 5 steel band arrangers). This album, recorded live at a musical festival prior to their 1993 U.S. tour, contains works by many of the major composers for steel band, including the great Lord Kitchener. The way in which a band numbering 45 musicians is capable of performing a tightly arranged piece with such little overlap is incredible. The Desperadoes have been some of the best for some time, and this album shows why. ~ Adam Greenberg
