CHAPTER 1

Jennifer the skunk was sitting on a tree stump in the woods. She had no one to play with. "I am so sad," said Jennifer.

A porcupine came along the path and stopped when she saw Jennifer.

"Hello there little skunk. My name is Rose. What is your name?"

"I'm Jennifer."

"Why are you so sad, Jennifer?" asked Rose.

"No one wants to play with me. I have a funny smell."

"Well, we can fix that, follow me to my cottage and we will see what we can do for you."

Rose and Jennifer skipped off to the cottage.

Rose made some tea and brought out cookies.

Then she gave Jennifer a nice bath with lots of bubbles. She still didn't smell right.

Rose got out her best powder and sprinkled it all over Jennifer. She still didn't smell right.

Then she tried one more thing. She took her flower smelling perfume and sprayed Jennifer all over. Now, she smelled different.

"Oh, thank you, Rose.

You've made me so very happy."

"Let's take our tea and go outside," Rose said.

"I need to pick flowers for my kitchen table."
