Ben-Zvi (political science, Tel Aviv U.) planned his analysis of the August 1962 decision to sell Hawk anti-aircraft missiles to Israel as the first chapter in a book surveying how US administrations have attempted to use the sale of arms to Israel as a leverage for extracting a wide range of political compensations from the new country.
