About the Author

Ailynn Collins learned a lot about writing from her teachers at Hamline University in St. Paul, MN. She has always loved reading science fiction stories about other worlds and strange aliens. She enjoys creating new characters and worlds for her stories, as well as envisioning what the future might look like. When not writing, Collins enjoys spending her spare time reading and playing board games with her family. She lives near Seattle, Washington, with her husband and loveable dogs.
Daniel Pedrosa was born in Araraquara, a quiet town in the interior of São Paulo/Brazil and since he was a child he has always had artistic, philosophical and esoteric inclinations. At the age of ten, his older brother gave him his first superhero comic (a Superboy edition from the 90's) and there he decided that drawing comics would be his profession. In 2010 he began his professional career doing comic strips for newspapers and drawing children's supplements for tabloids and magazines. Since then, his career began to expand and today the artist has publications for Criptozoik, Tildawave, Capstone, 137 Studios and produces advertising material for the largest Honda Motors store in Brazil.
Erik Doescher is an illustrator that specializes in licensed art for publishing, style guides, and merchandising. He has worked in the industry for over 25 years, and his clients include DC Comics, Penguin/Random House, Nickelodeon, Golden Books, Hasbro, The Walt Disney Company, Capstone, and Warner Brothers.

Gr 4–6—Max Axiom and the Society of Super Scientists are back, this time investigating cutting edge technology of all sorts. From artificial intelligence and virtual reality to robots and futuristic vehicles, the team tries out some of the latest designs. Graphic novel format is useful in bringing scenes to life—flying cars, robotic exoskeletons, and virtual reality concerts are just some of the scenes readers will experience. Sidebars discuss current events such as robotic rovers on Mars and competition to create the most humanlike artificial intelligence as well as future plans for driverless taxis or hydrogen-fueled planes. While VR goggles and augmented reality apps are familiar, some of the other possibilities may be completely new to readers. Back matter includes a page of additional information about the topic, a list of suggested websites and further reading, and a glossary. VERDICT A series sure to be in high demand by graphic novel fans and useful to update STEM collections.
