Gr 5-8-Brief overviews in which single-page "FYInfo" sections highlight topics related to the main texts. For example, in Mendeleyev, they include "The Russian Czars," "St. Petersburg," "The Communist Manifesto," and "The Petroleum Industry." A variety of black-and-white and color illustrations and photographs are scattered throughout. The texts are often dry and the font may be difficult for some students to read. Each book concludes with a chronology of the life of the featured individual and a timeline of important events pertaining to his particular studies. The glossaries range from unclear to wordy and complex, and words appearing in them are not highlighted in the text.
