Kilmeny of the Orchard

When Eric Marshall goes to teach school on Prince Edward Island, he happens upon a young woman named Kilmeny playing the violin in an orchard. She is unable to speak (although she can hear perfectly) and she uses the violin as her voice. Eric and Kilmeny become friends. Eric soon falls in love with Kilmeny and hopes to make her his wife. About the Author

Lucy Maud Montgomery (1874-1942), who published under the name L. M. Montgomery, was a Canadian author who is best known for the Anne of Green Gables series of books. Montgomery published 20 novels, 530 short stories, 500 poems, and 30 essays. Most of her works were set on Prince Edward Island. Kilmeny of the Orchard was originally published in 1910.
