The Global Terrorism Database is considered to be the most comprehensive dataset on terrorist activity globally and has now codified over 150,000 terrorist incidents. The research presented in this report highlights a complex and rapidly changing set of dynamics in global terrorism. While on the one hand the top-line statistics highlight an improvement in the levels of global terrorism, the continued intensification of terrorism in some countries is a cause for serious concern, and highlights the fluid nature of modern terrorist activity. About the Author

MOHAN K. GAUTAM, M.A. (Lucknow), D. Lit (Leiden) has taught at the universities of Lucknow (India), Oslo (Norway) and Leiden (The Netherlands). Since 70's he is Organizer and Chairman of the Internationa] Commission on Museums and Cultural Heritage of the International Union of Anthropological and Ethnological Sciences. Since 1962 he is working as a member of staff in Kern Institute of South Asian Studies, Leiden University, Leiden. Dr. Gautam is a trained Social and Cultural anthropologist in British, Dutch and French schools of anthropology. His major held areas have been the Chota Nagpur region Mauritius, Surinam and European countries. His book "In Search of an Identity: a case of the Santal of Northern India" is a breakthrough in the theoretical development of Munda-Santal researches. Dr. Gautam has been a Visiting Professor to Ranchi University. He has been the initiator of Gautam-Pott project on the development of Anthropological Museology in South Asia. He is actively involved in many international organizations and at present is the Director of International Overseas South Asian Research Centre which has chapters in many countries.

AJIT K. SINGH, Ph. D (Ranchi) is a trained social anthropologist, has contributed about fifteen research papers to different academic journals of India and abroad. His half dozen books revealed about the different bio-social and cultural life of the tribes of India in general and Bihar in particular. Dr. Singh has special interest in the field of applied and action anthropology and is associated with a number of Voluntary Organisations working in the tribal area of Central India. His specialisation is in the field of social anthropology and in the anthropology of development, religion, tribal demography and area studies. Dr. Singh is a lecturer in the Department of Anthropology at Ram Lakhan Singh Yadav College, Ranchi and is also attached with the post-graduate Department of Ranchi University in teaching and research activities. Sometime back he taught anthropology at North-Eastern H? University, Shillong.
