Description: Technologists working in computed tomography (CT) have one year to become certified. This test preparation book has great illustrations of exams and what to look for on a CT scan/slice, as well as a concise review of the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) - appropriate curriculum. This author also has provided a review book for the radiography boards.
Purpose: The purpose is to prepare individuals who wish to become certified CT technologists. This book provides accurate information to prepare them in the three main aspects of the job: patient care and safety, imaging procedures, and physics and instrumentation.
Audience: The intended audience is technologists who are preparing to become CT certified, but this book will help anyone entering the CT field who wants to understand what they are doing. Particularly helpful to understanding the process and what physicians need are the three-dimensional images of muscles and basic anatomy.
Features: This book doesn't just cover CT, it also contains a basic review of areas of the body that are scanned so that technologists know what they should be looking for and when they may need to rescan a patient or acquire additional images for the radiologists who will be reading the scan. The book does a good job of covering the important main topics, as well as simplifying others that may be more difficult to understand. The images of the scans will help all those who need visualize representations, and the review questions and tests will help them prepare for this test. The only shortcoming is that the book needs to cover more of the newer technology, because some facilities are already using it.
Assessment: This book will help all those preparing for the CT certification examination. They will find it much like the review book that they may have used for the radiography boards.
