About the Author

I am a mother of four and have been working from home for about 6 years. Working from home came out of necessity when I had 2 very small children at home. I went to look for a traditional job to supplement my husband’s income and when I started looking for daycare for my children they wanted about $350 a week for both children. This would mean that I am actually working to just put the children in daycare with very little left over.
I am naturally a internet savvy person and I begin to search for freelance work and found many advertisements for working from home, these ads usually charged and I often bought them because I was desperate to work, The initial cost would be around $25 to $100 but after purchasing many different programs, paying for job boards and a variety of books and websites my grand total was about $3,200 over the course of a year wand still no real jobs were found. I did however have a abundance of survey and poll sites, informational books and sites and I used the wording I found there to perform searches for real jobs.
Finally by mistake I found a company saying they hire work form home people so again I filled out all the information and vowed that if they ask form money I will stop the process. This company did not have any out of pocket expenses for anything nor did I have to purchase the headset needed. I did need a up to date computer, functional software and knowledge of internet and email. A high speed internet connection was required and a landline telephone. They provided all the training and unique software to access their company portals and information. I worked for this company for a year and had a quick growth process. I became a chat lead and was very happy here. I decided to leave to pursue other personal business opportunities and found a more flexible work form home job.
I currently work from home full time as an independent contractor, set my own schedule and am able to attend all my children’s activities, and still be the mother I want. I am extremely happy with the outcome and have gained much knowledge along the way. I teach this class at the local community college and online at my website. I cannot work every good job or for every great company but in this economy I do hope the information I provide can assist some people in gaining at home employment.
