LETTERS TO MY SISTER
The title "LETTERS TO MY SISTER" is about a series of events which took place in my life during the years 1934 to 1945. I was forced to put them in writing because my sister Julia was constantly asking me about them. Julia lives in Canada and I live in the United States. From childhood days we became quite close spending more time in our grandfather's house than the rest of our six siblings. We hared eveything, so it was that I would relate to her some strange and unusual things which happened to me as I was growing up. She was fascinate by my stories, and questioned me at length for more details, which prompted me to start to document them. I have always enjoyed writing, and thought why not put them in a book format, and send them to her. I toyued with the idea for a couple of years realizing that I did not have the money to have the book published I did nothing about it. A few months ago I received an email advertisement from Barnes and Noble, in which was an offer to publish ebooks at no charge. My interest perked and I went to work writing, and rewriting my stories until I felt confident enough to submit my work for review. Julia has not seen all the stories in my book.If successful I believe that she will be very pleased at the result of her inquiring nature.

About the Author

I was born on the beautiful island of St Lucia in ther Caribbean Sea on a sunday morning December 13th 1925, at about 1:30am to the sound of marching bands, and lots of revelry. It is the celebration of the feast of St.Lucy the patron Saint of St Lucia. The day is marked with parades, dancing in the streets, boat races, horse races, bus rides, parties, food venders lining the city square. From sun up to well past sun down the partying goes on. Growingup in an upper middle class family I was shuttled between my grandfather's house and my dad's house, allowing me the rfeceive the best of both worlds. One laced wioth strict disciplines mixed with lots of love and affection, the other a more progressive style home with love, sharing, commraderie, and physical activities. I attended all the best schools, completing four years of college work at Castries Itermediate. I had a great love for the outdoors, although my early years were spent mostly with nmy grandfather, who took me along with him where ever he went. We had a fantastic relationship. He owned a drugstore where I could be found onmost sfternoons after school, entering the day's pescriptions into the giant logbook. Cleaning the scales, and mostars which had been used that day, and filling capsules with quinine. Too young to be accepted in the Royal Air Force I elected to give my time on the island of Curacao working in one of the testing laboratories in the oil refinery. After fours I migrated to the United States in 1947, started night school to further my education, and was drafted into the United States Army in the fall of 1949. IN 1951 I married my wife Martha. We had one sone and twHardware o daughters. For most of my life in the United States I worked as an Architectural Consultant, spending 22 years in one company, 10 in another and 8 in the last before I retired in 1989. I now live in one of the many Adult Comdominium Communities which grace the Central New Jersey landscape.Unfortunately, my retirement years are not filled with the relaxed living pace which my wife and I had anticipated. I am a full time care giver, caring for my handicapped wife who suffers with multiple sclerosis which had pretty much confined her to bed. I take great pride in my daily routine which requirtes me to wear many hats. Shopping, cooking, keeping house, paying the bills, but mostky seeing to her care. The opart I enjoy the most.
