In the natural world, forest fires are good things. If there were no fires, weeds would overtake and strangle the trees, and rob the soil of valuable nutrients. As a result, our forests would become weak, spindly, and useless. A forest fire goes through and kills those killer weeds. Their ashes go back into the earth and nourish it. The trees take that nourishment and grow.
Sadly, forest fires cannot be selective. Thus, sometimes good things are lost along with the bad. Some trees die during the fire, some homes are consumed, both animal and human lives are lost. NEVERTHELESS, the fire is still necessary. Sometimes we must lose some good in order to rid our lives of the bad. Sometimes it is the only way we can grow. My personal war with drugs began on Monday, December 4, 2006, and ended when, like a fire, I brought total destruction to my daughter’s life as she knew it in the hopes of saving her.
