About the Author

Michael Edmonds Consultant Physician at King’s College in London from 1981, founder and leader of Diabetic Foot Service and Clinic, including Emergency and Rapid Access Clinics at King’s College Hospital. The Foot Service has achieved and maintained a 50% reduction in major amputations. This standard was adopted by the World Health Organisation and International Diabetes Federation in the St Vincent Declaration 1989 to Improve the Outlook of Diabetic Patients. The King’s Diabetic Foot Clinic is widely accepted as an ideal model of care and has been duplicated in many Diabetic Clinics in UK, Europe, Asia and Africa.
