Overview

Before immigrating from Cuba, Lola Velasquez made a vow to be a valiant knight. But when her father, Emilio, is murdered, she will seek justice and blood.

After fighting in the Civil War, Emilio and his family made a life in Savannah. For twenty years, they lived in harmony until the ghosts of Emilio's past came to haunt him. As a gifted engineer, Emilio took part in building something he regretted. When his attempts to erase his creation failed, a crooked Colonel murdered him before Lola's eyes.

Fueled with rage and a thirst for revenge, Lola teams up with a band Latinas, a cowardly chemist, and a rogue Deputy to hunt down the ones responsible for her father's death.

LOLA: THE SPANISH KNIGHT is a historical fiction where True Grit meets Magnificent Seven but make it Latina. This female-driven, gun-slinging, thriller is a different take on the West and will show how far one will go for family, love, and blood.

About the Author

Elizabeth Romanyk was born in 1990 in Hialeah, Florida. She is a first-generation American, with immigrant parents from Cuba and Venezuela. As a kid, her first love was movies. Fearless knights, monstrous dragons, talking toys, and magic drove her to an adoration for fantasy. But as a queer, Hispanic woman, it was difficult finding a variety of characters in movies and books that represented her.

In her debut novel, Lola: The Spanish Knight, Elizabeth has combined her favorite elements and created a kick-butt, horse-riding, gun-slinging, Latina-driven, Historical Fiction about a Cuban immigrant out for revenge.

Elizabeth has been married to her high school sweetheart, Andrew, since 2011. Together they have two little Queens, and three dogs. She is a faithful 49ers fan and could never have enough pens. She will often be found at the bookstore, in her tower (office) writing until her hand cramps or whooping her kids' butts in Mario Kart.
