Stephanie and Lula find themselves managing a sketchy deli where managers are mysteriously disappearing, leaving behind one shoe. Yes, the plot is more than a little thin, but this is number 25 in the series, and we continue to listen to the audiobooks because narrator Lorelei King makes these characters fresh and funny. Fortunately, we get to hear a lot of Lula, who plays a prominent role as queen sandwich maker. King consistently delivers all the ongoing characters we have come to know and mainly love, and comes up with voices for the additional characters, including two of the key deli workers, Stretch and Raymond, whom she delivers with perfect stereotyped humor. Fans will welcome another spin with Stephanie and crew. E.Q. Winner of AudioFile Earphones Award © AudioFile 2018, Portland, Maine
