Overview

What I present here is the history of the Bay Islands, and Sandy Bay, Roatán. Interviews with Sandy Bay elders and youth document an oral history of the area as well as their current situation. Observations and interviews of all schools that are directly associated with Sandy Bay are complemented with an oral history of education. I describe daily life in the late 1980's without electricity or running water.
I look at tourism: a group of 'have's' in the middle of 'have nots.' This book demonstrates how a population is put in a subservient position in a community they established.
