About the Author

I am an eighty-year-old mother of three daughters and grandmother of three grandsons and four granddaughters. I live in Farmington Hills, Michigan. I attended Redford High School in Detroit and graduated from Albion College with a BA in fine arts with a minor in English literature. My start in writing for young children began in college when I had an assignment in a children’s literature class to write a story for children. Later, after I married, I had an opportunity to write again while living at Fort Sill, Oklahoma (my husband was in the army at the time). Upon our return to Detroit, I was employed by the Jam Handy Corporation (a commercial motion-picture and slide-film company) as a key liner. After my children were in high school, I was employed by the Detroit Art Services Company in Troy, Michigan, doing schematic drawings for the M1 tanks. I freelanced with various companies for a number of years, and for the past twelve years, I have been an Early Literacy volunteer at Hoover Elementary School in Livonia, Michigan, helping first graders learn to read. This enjoyable occupation has given me the opportunity to write stories for five- to eight-year-olds and also provided me with a captive audience when I read my stories to whole classes. I am creative in all types of crafts, including needlework, woodworking, painting (most mediums), and I create favors for parties. I enjoy travelling with my husband, gardening, and golfing in my spare time.
