About the Author

Paulette Frankl, daughter of Austrian-born world-renowned Art Deco designer Paul T. Frankl, has been an artist all her life. Her first public art exhibit was at the age of seven in a joint show with her father for the sophisticated art world in Los Angeles, California.

Ms. Frankl is a graduate of Stanford University, where she obtained a bachelor’s degree in art and languages. She studied art at the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture in Skowhegan, Maine, where her work was awarded for its originality.
Frankl has lived and worked in United States and Europe as a photojournalist, fine-arts artist, and graphic artist for magazines. Her work includes a cover on France’s “Réalités.” As a photo-journalist in Europe, she was a staff photographer for Gruner & Jahr in their publications, “Twen” and “Eltern.” The German magazine “Geo” profiled her lifestyle in California in the seventies.

Frankl’s courtroom art has been aired on CNN, NBC, CBS, ABC, Fox TV, NNS, WGN-TV, and Talk America. It has taken her all the way to the United States Supreme Court in Washington, D.C.

In Lust for Justice Frankl combines her love of language and her perceptive insights honed from years of performance in pantomime with her innate visual perception to produce a painterly style of writing and a story-telling style of art. The challenge of capturing the multi-faceted persona of J. Tony Serra on paper demanded the creation of its own unique style of courtroom art. Frankl’s art combines the visual with the emotional to engender a live force in an original style she calls Perceptualism.

Frankl says about her art, “Words and brush strokes have much in common: they must be carefully chosen, applied with deliberation, and they must convey either in and of themselves or by juxtaposition the full impact of the statement intended. Words and brush strokes, like Haiku, convey much more than the sum of their parts.”
As a performance artist in the field of mime and magic, she was featured on Italian television at Carnival in Venice. She has also appeared in Sunset magazine. Her creative association with Marcel Marceau as collaborator and muse spanned thirty-five years. Frankl worked as a professional magician in the magic capital of America, Las Vegas, Nevada.

Frankl currently lives in Santa Fe, New Mexico
