About the Author

The author Barbara A. Pierce was born in Memphis, Tennessee. She moved to New York City and then to Mount Vernon, New York where she later became an elementary school teacher. Her experience as an educator lasted over thirty-five years. Miss Pierce also became a substitute teacher and a volunteer in a read-a-loud program. Since her retirement from teaching in 2003, she has written several books.
