After training in the Jaw's Old Testament, Hugo is writing the New One that he taught for 40 years long. Indeed, the last decade has been fertile in mechanical gadgets which have made diagnosis and surgery easier, such as, accurate CT 3-D images, and absorbable plating or osteodistraction, which brings a fine touch to treatment timing in children. However, all of this does not encompass the intellectual process, basic principles, tactics and procedures.

Purpose: The main purpose is to help diagnose and treat mandibular abnormalities.
Audience: This is an important reference for orthodontists and oral and maxillofacial surgeons.
Features: The book is divided into three major parts: Basic, Condylar Hyperactivity, and Principal Surgical Procedures. Each part contains eight chapters, each of which describes the mandible deformity, orthodontics, and surgical techniques that are frequently helpful in the treatment of selected abnormalities. The book, with its more than 1,000 illustrations, is a practical, state-of-the-art guide to the essential elements of mandibular abnormality correction and treatment through an orthodontic-surgical approach.
Assessment: All of the authors are well known in the field and the book is not the usual and anonymous compendium of 50 contributions. The inclusion of long-term results and the expertise of the editor makes this book unusual and unique. The growth of the mandible and its abnormalities and treatment options is described tremendously well, which makes this book the most important of many contributions in the field. This is a font of information for orthodontists and oral surgeons who strive to render exemplary care for their patients.
