Overview

The history of Sha'azharet'th, last Elder Lord of Ard'dr, Master of Ta'arim, cursed by the gods to labor in the flesh for a thousand years.

In Book Two, Sha'azharet'th has fled the Eastern Empire of his birth and hires out as a mercenary in the service of the king of the far western land of Sarantia. After being twice compelled to perform great and terrible sorceries to save this alien land, he takes refuge in a volcanic valley which is widely known to be "haunted" in the hope of finally distancing himself from the troubles of other men. In this valley he makes his home, calling it Ta'arim. As the Master of Ta'arim he hopes to at last find peace, if only the First Gods will allow it.

About the Author

About the Author

R. Stone Penwell is both an artist and an author who loves to write short fiction, epic fantasy fiction, and futuristic science-fiction. He was the publisher and editor-in-chief of a very successful online e zine that ran from 1996 to 2000 dedicated to the free online publishing of fine literary works of fiction and poetry by both known authors and promising new authors.

R. Stone Penwell is the only surviving co-author of the four-volume epic fantasy series The Chronicles of the Last Elder Lord, on which he worked long and closely with co-author Merilyn F. George, who he knew not only as a working partner, but as a dear friend. The Chronicles of the Last Elder Lord was Mr. Penwell's debut as both a published co-author and as a published artist.
In the realm of artwork Mr. Penwell's works are not numerous and consist largely of maps and scenic background illustration. He prefers to work in pen and ink or pencil, but also does extensive graphics work (mainly maps) on the computer using either Paint Shop Pro or Adobe Photoshop.

Mr. Penwell is currently working on a series of highly memorable short fiction stories, mostly in the fantasy genre, and a new epic fantasy novel. He also writes in the realm of science-fiction, and has a series of novels that are currently also in progress.

Mr. Penwell lives in the western United States, has honorably served his country in the military, and has traveled to and through parts of western Europe. He lived four years in southern Germany in the great and historically rich city of Augsburg where he became enchanted with both the people of the city and the country of Germany. Mr. Penwell is a retired journeyman woodworker who keeps himself busy with his own writing projects that he hopes to publish in the near future.
