Purpose: The purpose of this book is to provide access to a large pool of MCQs that have been used during a 15-year period by the pediatric faculty at the University of South Wales.
Audience: This work will be of interest to anyone preparing to take a multiple-choice examination in pediatrics, including medical students, residents, and clinicians.
Features: The medical content of the questions and narratives is practical and sound. This edition has been updated to reflect recent advances, especially in genetics and neonatology. The most attractive feature of this mid-sized paperback book is its user-friendly layout. The reader is able to read three or four MCQs on a single page and then turn to the preferred responses and a brief narrative on the back side of the same page. Most questions are of the true/false type. The narratives average four sentences in length (range, 1 to 12 sentences) and explain the preferred responses. No references or suggested readings for further study are included. The questions are arranged by content areas, but there is no subject index to locate a question on a specific topic.
