Description: This is an up-to-date review on the mechanics of the human body. Each chapter is written by an international expert in the field.
Purpose: The purpose is to explain how human biomechanics affect disease of the musculoskeletal system. The musculoskeletal system is looked at from cellular, ergonomic, and treatment points of view.
Audience: The intended audience is anatomists, bioengineers, orthopedic surgeons, rheumatologists, and occupational medicine specialists.
Features: The illustrations are nicely done. A section on the effects of vibrations is unique. An up-to-date review of the lumbar disc and osteotomies is another highlight. An up-to-date bibliography also encourages deeper study.
Assessment: This is a nicely illustrated, well-written book. It would be an excellent addition to any orthopedic or bioengineering library. It should be basic reading for orthopedists, physical therapists, or bioengineers.
