A collection of letters from Joseph Canvin to his wife Florence Canvin, 1945-1983.
Memoranda 2 documents the final letters of Master Sergeant Joseph Jeremiah Canvin, who worked towards a thirty-year retirement from the Marine Corps. He wore many ribbons and medals, but his years of service have closed their secrets in modesty. These letters describe his military service in the South Pacific, Guadalcanal, China, and Hawaii. In 1947 Florence joined Joseph in Guam where they lived in a Quonset hut that he had built. She eventually returned to the United States where she raised their three children.
