Overview

In the year 407 CE the influence of the Roman Empire on the province of Britannia is ebbing away. The imperial administrators and the

legions have left, but the people who remain must continue their everyday lives as best they can. The departing governor of Britannia Prima

suddenly appoints Marcus Lucullus Silvanus, the son of a regional landowner, as his delegate while he travels to Rome. When the governor

disappears without trace, Marcus, his wife, Hypatia, daughter of the missing governor, his friends and colleagues, struggle to preserve

the bankrupt province, opposed by the jealous and determined Astrebanus brothers. The Romans have gone forever, and a new era has

begun, an era of chaos and decay, the era we know as The Dark Ages.
