Neurosurgery evolved from open and extensive craniotomies and incisions to the ancillary small incision for the removal of tumors, peripheral nerve surgery, and on spine neurosurgery. This progression is reflected in this book.
Purpose: The purpose of this book is to address the potential of minimally invasive neurosurgery in modern practice. These worthy objectives are fully met by the authors.
Audience: Neurologists, neurosurgeons, and other surgeons will find this book useful for their practices. The authors are well-known authorities in neurosciences.
Features: Over 40 authors contribute 20 chapters in this book. All fields of neurosurgery are covered, in particular neurovascular and neuro-oncology, since these have been particularly affected by modern imaging techniques capable of precisely determining the geometrical structural position in the brain. The color pictures are of excellent quality and are pertinent to the text. Neuroendovascular surgery is also covered, albeit briefly.
Assessment: This is an important book that should be purchased by general neurology and neurosurgery libraries.
