Overview

When Fatima comes across a few pages out of her late mother's diary, she finds her way to Zosia Kasanova, an old woman living in Karachi. Together, they live through her experiences as a victim of the brutal war crimes from the second World War before she came to Pakistan. At the same time, Fatima's lover, Asad, moves to Kashmir to join the escalating war between India and Pakistan. Fatima begins a journey that takes her from the romantic dreams of Rabindranath Tagore to the nightmarish world of Adolf Hitler to find her destiny in the missing pages.

About the Author

Baland Iqbal is the author of two novels, Broken Wall and Missing Pages, and a collection of short stories, My 51 Short Stories. He has also published a work of non-creative fiction; All Are My Love Letters.

He enjoys philosophical, historical, literary, psychological and political topics for discussion on South Asian TV channels. His academic discussions with Dr. Mubarak Ali, Pakistani historian, and Dr. Khalid Sohail, writer and psychologist in Canada, have been transcribed and published in the name of In Search of Wisdom by Abdul Sattar, In The Shadow of History and Points of View by Prof. Mubarak Ali.

His work has been honored through theses for the M.Phil. in Urdu Literature at Al-Hamd Islamic University and Bahadin Zakriya University, Pakistan, and a PhD at the University of Lucknow, India. Baland Iqbal practices medicine and is currently attached with Norfolk General Hospital in Ontario, Canada.
