About the Author

A former New York City network news producer, Susan Gibbs left her job to become a shepherd, founding her first farm with just four sheep. In addition to creating and running the world's first community-shared agriculture (CSA) fiber initiative, Susan is the creative director of a commercially produced yarn line that bears the name of her farm, and the editor-in-chief of the digital magazine By Hand. She lives in Arlington, VA.

In 2007, Gibbs, owner of Juniper Moon Farms, pioneered the community-supported agriculture (CSA) model for yarn and spinning fiber. Her business has grown significantly, and she now has her own line of custom-spun yarn made from natural fiber. This collection of knitting patterns designed to showcase Gibbs's yarns features a variety of feminine designs, many integrating cables, lace, or colorwork. The sweaters are the standouts, including a lace-front tunic knit from a wool-silk blend, a colorwork cardigan in a bold shade of red, and an empire-waist cardigan with a pretty lace bottom.
