The author grew up in Western Washington, studied in Tacoma, WA, Boulder, CO, Greeley, CO, Whidbey Island, WA. He's a US Army Veteran and is married with three grown children. He retired from Hewlett-Packard after 25 years, taught college at Gonzaga U, and at Bakersfield College (CA), where he first visited Tehachapi, Mojave, and Death Valley, CA, and became intrigued by the 20 Mule Team Borax period during the 1880s in the United States.
