The marriage of his DNA profile and Investigative Genetic Genealogy downloaded to a Genealogy site, going back over 300 years was used to trace down through the generations to find the criminal at last. About the Author

An entrepreneur since her twenties, Author, Anne Penn started her career in computers as an Installation Analyst in Sacramento CA. A successful business woman she has run companies hiring & training others to become successful. Writing about many social issues in a short story format under her real name, Anne's background has also been in Criminal Justice, Sociology, Psychology and Addiction Specialties. A Certified Addiction Specialist, and Counselor, Anne worked for a year in a county jail setting with small groups of inmates teaching Health Education Addiction Recovery classes. She worked to teach how lasting change was possible in their lives by helping to change their thinking on a minute to minute daily basis. Successful at helping some inmates stay sober for the first time in their lives, Anne used this experience as a study into how people become addicted & seemingly trapped into this type of life. Counseling also on a one to one basis she was able to secure private funding for the program to continue on her watch. She is also a certified crisis & suicide prevention counselor. Since 1980 she has studied the mindset of the serial killer in order to try to make sense of what motivates this type of individual. Very detailed and fascinating account of the East Area Rapist/Original Night Stalker cases. Probably the most in depth book I've ever read on the subject, and from a very unique perspective. I was expecting the author to focus too much on her relatives case, but she did not. She speculates as to where the perpetrator could live, but seems to have formed some wonderful relationships with law enforcement over the years while researching the cases. Wonderfully written I was impressed!

The amount & depth of research this author has pursued gives the reader a very complete picture of the many crimes, beginning with the northern California rapes, the move to Southern California & the ensuing escalation of the violence & mayhem. Loving and compassionate she breathes personality into the victims. The very real terror brought into play is shown in words. I cannot rate this book as high as it deserves. If you read no other, read this one. It is gripping, scary, & very, very real!

For anyone just recently learning about this case East Area Rapist/Original Night Stalker/Golden State Killer, I urge you to read this book. Critical in putting the crimes into some sort of geographical context, it also provided a great deal of historical context for that particular period, (Rapist/Killer's reign of terror from 1976 to 1986), both written and in the many photos of that time/era. The reader will get the familial context as it is by a family member. I highly recommend this book.

Her story is multi-faceted. There are so many layers. She breathes life back into her victims so that the reader is able to connect with them and have a glimpse into their hopes and dreams for their futures. This is no small feat. One of the best books you will find on California's most prolific rapist/serial killer.

This was an interesting book dealing with the EARS/ON case from someone that personally experienced the loss of a relative at the hands of the unidentified killer. Told from a perspective that is different, Anne Penn looks back at what it was like to grow up in California and how the rapes and murders affected her family. The story of being pursued by two individuals in a pick up truck made my hair stand on end when I read it; absolutely heart rendering and told with honesty. A great read!
