Overview

This story begins with a small delicate pine that grew in the dunes near the sea. Her companion was a young boy named Nebylys, who did not speak with words. Together they lived their days with similarity and routine, telling stories and sharing laughs until a traveler changed their lives in many ways.
This story develops throughout the pages in various unexpected ways. From new friends to tragic loss, from heartfelt adventure to treacherous task, this novel really depicts the ups and downs of a journey. When one feels the story is coming to a happy ending it twists and morphs into a continuous tale that really makes this story feel real.
Beautifully created illustrations are incredibly successful in supporting the worlds described in this story. They also provide an outlet to appropriately visualize the poetic nature of the words chosen to tell this tale. The writing is not only very detailed when it comes to describing the scenes but it is also beautifully expressive and imaginative.
Each character has such complexity that the reader can really feel and visualize their struggle, their pain, their joy, and their triumph.
