Family is the people you belong with. This short story is about a boy named Matthew who draws a picture of his family for a school project. Matthew's parents are divorced, so his family is much larger than it once was. He describes the family he lives with, his stepfamily, his grandparents, and even his adopted cousin. The computer-designed graphics show the "grown-up" version of his drawing for school and illustrate each family member as Matthew describes who they are and why they are a part of his family. ... The child will easily understand the content in the book. The book will be especially helpful in teaching children about some differences between families, such as different numbers of siblings, differences if parents are divorced or not, why a child is related to an aunt or uncle, and so forth. The end of the book contains ideas for two separate activities that a child can do to learn more about his or her own family, words to know, and a section to learn more about the family. 2003, Picture Window Books, Ages 6 to 8.
