This must be the way to paradise! Besides cookies and cocoa, Christmas means lots of candy of every kind. This sweet wreath makes the door, wall, or table even more festive.

WREATH AND RIBBON

For the wreath, work with a 3.5mm hook in Rose in rows, ending each row with a ch1.

Ch31. Work in rows of 30sc until piece is 23.5"/60cm long. Fasten off. Cut yarn, leaving a long tail.

For the ribbon, work with a 3.5mm hook in Mint Blue in rows, ending each row with a ch2.

Ch50.

Row 1: Insert hook into 3rd st from hook, 48hdc (48).

Rows 2-5: 48hdc.

Skip last ch2. Fasten off. Cut yarn, leaving a long tail. Sew two short ends of ribbon together.

For the middle of the ribbon, work in rows, ending each row with a ch2.

Ch14.

Row 1: Insert hook in 3rd st from hook, 12hdc (12).

Row 2: 12hdc (12).

Fasten off. Cut yarn, leaving a long tail.

BASIC FORM: ROUND FRUIT

With 2.5mm hook and Natural, work in a Spiralrnd.

Rnd 1: 6sc in a magic ring (6).

Rnd 2 (Color 2): ch2, 1hdc in the same st, 2hdc in every st around, slst (12).

Rnd 3 (Natural): [1sc, 2sc in next st] around, slst (18).

Rnds 4-5: 18sc (18).

Rnd 6: Working in the back loops, [1sc, sc2tog] around (12).

Rnd 7: [sc2tog] around (6).

End with a slst. Cut yarn and weave through all sts of the last rnd. Pull tightly to close and fasten off.

Sew 2 cherries together with 2sts in Rnd 6.

For the stem, insert hook in Rnd 6 and begin working in Spring Green. 1sc and ch10. Turn, insert hook in 2nd st from hook, 2sc, ch7, insert hook in Rnd 6 of 2nd cherry and fasten with 2sc. Fasten off. Cut yarn, leaving a long tail.

ASSORTED LICORICE BASIC FORM: SQUARE

Work with 2.5mm hook and preferred color in rows, ending each row with a ch1.

Ch7. Work 6 rows of 6sc. Skip last ch1. Fasten off.

Make 3-5 licorice squares in the following color schemes. To finish, layer squares and glue them together.

Candy 1: Pink, Black, Pink

Candy 2: Orange, Black, Orange

Candy 3: Natural, Black, Natural

Candy 4: Orchid, Black, Mimosa

Candy 5: White, Black, Orange, Black, White

BASIC FORM: ROUND

Work with 2.5mm hook in Black in a Spiralrnd.

Work with 2.5mm hook in Color 1 in a Spiralrnd.

Rnd 1: 6sc in a magic ring (6).

JELLY BERRIES (3x)

Work with 2.5mm hook in Fuchsia in a Spiralrnd.

Rnd 1: 6sc in a magic ring (6).

Rnd 2: [1sc, 2sc in next st] around (9).

Rnd 3: [2sc, 2sc in next st] around (12).

Rnds 4-6: 12sc (12).

Stuff with stuffing.

Rnd 7: Working in back loops, [sc2tog] around (6).

Cut yarn and weave through all sts of the last rnd. Pull tightly to close and fasten off.

FINISHING

Lay the Pink crochet piece around the styrofoam half wreath, so that the open ends lie on the flat side. Pin in place. Sew the 1st and last Rnds together. Then sew the long seam all around the wreath, making sure the piece lies flat as you go.

Lay the middle piece of the ribbon in the middle of the ribbon, with the seam facing the back. Sew in place so that the ribbon is a little ruffled.

Glue the ribbon to the wreath with hot glue. Using yarn in Candy, Violet, and Anise, sew sprinkles all over the wreath. To make the wreath hangable, sew a ribbon on the back side toward the top. Hang the silver star ornament from the underside of the ribbon with a silver cord. Arrange the candies around the wreath and glue in place.

MY TIP: For a smaller door wreath, ch27 and work 26 rows of sc, until work measures 17.25"/47cm long. Use an 8"/20cm half wreath.

Pretty Affectionate

These cute gingerbread hearts add a special touch to any gift. And they can be used later as tree ornaments.

HEARTS (2x)

Work in Brown in rows, ending each row with a ch1.

Ch2.

Row 1: 2sc in 2nd st from hook (2).

Row 2: 2sc in every st (4).

Row 3: [2sc in next st, 3sc] around (5).

Row 4: [2sc in next st, 4sc] around (6).

Row 5: [2sc in next st, 5sc] around (7).

Row 6: [2sc in next st, 6sc] around (8).

Row 7: [2sc in next st, 7sc] around (9).

Row 8: [2sc in next st, 8sc] around (10).

Row 9: [2sc in next st, 9sc] around (11).

Row 10: [2sc in next st, 10sc] around (12).

Row 11: [2sc in next st, 11sc] around (13).

Row 12: [2sc in next st, 12sc] around (14).

Rnd 2 (Pink): [(1slst, 1hdc, ch2, 1slst) in the next st] 4x.

Fasten off. Cut yarn, leaving a long tail.

FINISHING

Sew the sugar blossoms to the middle of the gingerbread heart. Using Khaki, embroider leaves in saddle stitch.

Tie 10"/25cm of ribbon on the heart.

Christmastime is cookie time. This jar with a decorated lid can be used to store cookies or to give as a gift.

LID COVER

End with a slst. Fasten off. Cut yarn, leaving a long tail.

For the frosting, work with 2.0mm hook in Orchid. Work 1st 2 rows of cookie and end with a slst. Fasten off. Cut yarn, leaving a long tail. Sew to cookie.

CINNAMON STARS

Work 2 cinnamon stars following the directions on p. 30.

VANILLA CRESCENTS

Work 1 vanilla crescent following the directions on p. 30.

FINISHING

Attach the cinnamon stars, vanilla crescents, and 2 small tree ornaments to the lid cover with hot glue. Glue lid cover to jar lid. Attach more cookies as you wish.

With 3D fabric paint, write numbers 1-24 on the front of the finished pockets. Tie all 24 pockets together with a single piece of kitchen twine.
