Overview

Hi, my name’s Alex – and just like you, I have a one-of-a-kind family!
My Dad lives in one home, and my Mom in another.
I’ll show you all the perks that come with sharing your time between two homes with different rules, things and family members.
Living in two homes can be more work, but the love both sides of my family have for me is all that matters – after all, you can never be loved by too many people!

My One-of-a-Kind Family’s flagship book, My Tree Has Two Branches, promotes respect and love for one’s unique family in addition to illustrating healthy boundaries for young readers in parallel or co-parenting situations. Whether your child shares his or her time between two single parents, two blended or stepfamilies or a combination of both, our books will help shed positive light on a topic that affects so many children today.

About the Author

Mélanie Bernier is a 30-year-old French translator from London, Ontario. She lives with her partner Dave, along with his two young children and their two dogs, Wilson and Murdock. Having always been an entrepreneur (she has been operating her French translation company called WordFrog Inc. for over ten years), Mélanie saw an opportunity when she had trouble finding neutral books for children of blended families. Through the My-One-of-a-Kind Family series of books, she hopes to provide children in co-parenting, parallel parenting and high-conflict situations with a positive outlook on their family life. In her spare time, Mélanie is an avid runner and cyclist, and enjoys staying busy while still making time to enjoy trail runs with Wilson and time spent outside as a family.
